Spojky Čiary is the new album by London-based Slovak musician Daniel Kordík. Over the years, he's been involved in several projects, including the hardware noise duo Jamka and his solo and collaboration ventures, which span improv and field recording (check out his [Sy][ria] release on LOM, for instance). His Baba Vanga venture is devoted to the dance - dance for dance's sake, without its social function or manipulation.

Seven compositions represent one dance each, and embody sound through the movement of the body while dancing. He does so with precision and elaboration, each step carefully thought out and developed into abstraction. When making the album, Daniel wasn't sure where the dancing would lead to, there are several culminations, ebbs and flows, in each track. Spojky Čiary is a metaphor of the discreetness of the continuum: how does a conjunction arise from a certain continuum and how does it dissolve, only to transform into a new one.

REVIEWS:

Fabio Viola, ESC blog, (11 July 2020) www.facebook.com/escmusicblog

Take Newbuild 808 State and dip them in acid for a few seconds. Why should I?, you'll ask. Just indulge me for a moment. What you want isn't to melt them completely, it's to see white bones pop up between shreds of meat still alive, smoking. Then imagine this sound body suffered in the hands of the Aphex Twin of the first eps or Autechre of ′′ Incunabula ".

Abstract, gloomy, with an industrial aftertaste and a declared but suffocated indole dance, as if Daniel Kordík's ′′ Spojky Čiary ′′ tunes (Slovak ′′ line joints) were long intro to acid house tunes that never leave but continue to accumulate potential energy.

Released on the Prague label BABA VANGA, this album by Slovak artist resident in London can like a large number of electronic music lovers. It's experimental enough to never get tired, it's dark without being dark, it sounds contemporary and vintage, it counts on both solid and skeletal and complex and irregular compositions. ' Vločky ' really evokes Autechre's total pre-abstraction phases as the album title track is an extraordinary 9 minute tension crescent that instead of a case in 4/4 has a rhythm made of tom that It overlaps with synth carpets wrapping the listener and saturating the air.

After the creepy 'Sto', a perfect track to accompany the imaginary unreleased short film of a not even-year-old Cronenberg, the record closes with ' Zukot ', where proto-thrust dance is coming back, like a Graham Massey heard inside a blast furnace Abandoned.
I'm already listening to this album and I don't even mention getting tired of it because ′′ Spojky Čiary ′′ manages to accommodate both my nostalgic and my thirsty for contemporaneity. Just saying, it's just finished and I'm already reproaching play.
I press the play on Bandcamp because this record can only be found there. It's out digital and cassette.
